Blessings

Yesterday, I was blog hopping, stopping by and visiting new friends when I happened upon a blog post where a friend of a friend who was only 30, a junior pastors wife if I read correctly and had two children and was 35 weeks along with her third child, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It happend upon her in about two months time and is so agressive the prognosis is bad. Her baby was delivered by C-section. I was just devistated, my question, why do bad things happen to good people, mostly Godly people. One of my questions to God when I meet him. I prayed for this young lady immedately on the spot. To be so young and not see your babies grow up is just unimaginable. I must go back and read the book, "When God Doesn't Make Sense."

From that blog I went to another who was offering a "Blessings" book as a prize. THAT blog got me thinking about all my blessings. I must say I have had heartache but I been blessed beyond means too. Sometimes I complain about stuff that doesn't even matter in the big picture and then I go, "Why me, me. me, me." THEN I read a blog like above and it slaps me in the face of reality. There are people far worse off then myself. I have my home, job, fantastic husband and children, food on my table, the good health of my family, WHY then do I complain? I have no good answer

My sis gave me the idea to make a prayer book a while back. She makes these fantastic journals from just a composition book and so I decided to make one with my scrapbooking stuff. I have begun to write down my prayers and when they are answered I write it down also so I can see what is happening in my life.

Today is Sunday, let's pray and count our blessings and for those less fortunate.

Beautiful post my dear! Yes we are truly blessed. I get a 'daily check' because when I arrive at work and meet with clients, my problems are so tiny compared to what walks through the door each day. Have fun today!

Thanks, a nice motorcycle ride through the back country will do the trick :) connect with nature. I often look around and say, look what God created!

that is a great post. We are truly blessed, and it makes you realize there is always someone worse off than us.

Melody,

This post really touched my heart. I am so sorry for your friend...I will pray as well. It does make us think twice about complaining about the smallest of things and how we stress about small things or unimportant things when there are people worse off than us. I am thankful more and more everyday for all that I have. I am going through a tough time right now, my b/f and I are going our separate directions and I think..all because of the small stuff that we complained about. Unfortunately it was too big and got in the way of us enjoying life. I am going to look ahead and enjoy what I do have, my family, my cats, my friends even my b/f. I will write your friend on my "magic prayer board". If you haven't seen it check it out on one of my Show and Tell Fridays.

Michelle, thank you. And isn't it funny how our cats can make any bad day seem better? Everyone should have one.

God takes care of us in mysterious ways! I always think he needs the good and loving people to be with him ,Even God needs a little help sometimes..This young lady will be a gardian angel to her children and to many others..
Among my friends is a young girl(20) diagnosed with leukemia..we tought she was out of the danger zone but the cancer came back! Now she is fighting for her life..and we don't know if she can beat the leukemia twice!
Lets keep the faith ..and may the "force" be with you!

Hear Hear! We must remind ourselves of the good things in our lives. It is all relative though, which is why we often forget how good we have it. I have read about many people who find this lady's idea's wonderful..

I too will pray for this young woman who is going through such an awful time.

As someone who has had cancer and who has recently lost her husband, my heart goes out to that woman and to others like her. My husband was my rock when I was ill, and he was taken from me so fast I had no time to help.

What a sweet post! She will certainly be in our prayers today. Some people have such a heavy cross to bear. We will stand with her in prayer and help carry that weight.

I wuv your blog, by the way. Please go here: http://redbirdacres.blogspot.com/2008/10/i-wuv-your-blog.html . I have a gift for you.

God bless ya! ♥ ∞

While reading this wonderful post and listen to Leona Lewis lovely background music... I couldn`t help but to share a few tears!
You are so right!
Why are some more fortunate than others!
And why are you never content, with what we got!

I have had exactly the same thoughts lately. Just as you describe, and I also have been thinking of making a prayer journal. I have the book and the first page awaits my writing. Wonderful idea for everyone!

Sometimes life seems very unfair and unkind. When I read about people who are suffering so much like your friend and her family I realise that all my trivial fears and worries are nothing in comparison. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving comments - I will return later to read more of your lovely blog:)

That's so sad for someone so young to be so sick. I guess we have to treasure every day we have and make the best of it. Makes me feel like an idiot, getting mad over stupid stuff.

Footprints in the sand is my all time favorite saying...there have been many times in my life that I have felt "carried" and will forever be grateful for that.

life CAN be unfair. more often that not.
