I look like a WHAT??

OK, so I went to RiteAid this afternoon and was in the make-up department looking for some deals. Their layout is kinda strange so I am zigzagging through the isles very slowly and the young man (about 17) at the register at the other end of the store keeps staring at me like I am going to steal something. I mean really, me? Give me a break.

So, now I am getting and paranoid and I just get my lipstick and foundation and want to get the heck out of there. I wait my turn at the register, did I mention that he is the only register open? Just my luck. Anyway....there are at least two men behind me buying beer and as I put my items on the counter he says.."This is so funny, you were over in the make up and I was looking at you and you weren't moving, your hair was perfect and you looked just like one of those mannequins at Macy's." Well, THAT was not what I expected to hear. I said, "What? you think I look like a mannequin?" Yes" he says, and I said, "You think I look like one of those wooden mannequins?" He said, " Well, some of those are HOT!, this is a complement to you." Well I just started laughing and I couldn't even bring myself to look at the guys behind me for fear they were already on the floor laughing. I thanked the young man and promply left.

Then I got in the car and I was contemplating...mannequins have flawless skin, great bodies, never get fat and can were ANYTHING and I was starting to feel pretty good by this time... LOL When I got home I told my hubby and he laughed with me.

Later, my hubby and I are on separate couches and I am on the computer and he is drinking a beer and I catch him looking at me. I asked him what he was looking at and he said, "I am looking at my mannequin" ! Then he came over and kissed me. AWWWWWW

The bad thing is....now everytime I go into a store that has mannequins I am going to remember this incident....LOL
This is the real me.

Here are some of my alter egos....

lol that is funny.

It reminds me of a story my mother use to tell us. When my brother was about 3 months old someone said to my mum, what a beautiful girl. My mother said no, he is a boy. This person then said really, he is too pretty to be a boy. My mother wasn't sure if she should take it as a compliment or not.

I love it! That definitely is a compliment and I can see what he means...you are beautiful and you DO have flawless skin and your hair is so perfect. Seriously! :) I wish I got a compliment like that!

Well at least your a beautiful Mannequin, I apparently looked like a Freddy! And to answer your comment, I KNOW you, I'd let you in! It's the unknown who must beware. ha ha

My M-I-L said.. "I've always said from the first day I met you that I love her dearly but I wouldn't want to cross her!" I was like, "What, the first time you met me I gave you a HUGE bouquet of flowers!" ha ha

So yes, I have my moments! ha ha

That's a cute story and will give you lots of laughs the next time you go to Macy's. I would say he meant it as a compliment, like you are perfect looking.

Oh that is funny. It takes years I guess for young men to nail down the suave and debonair compliment! If only they'd watch Cary Grant movies, it would be like the 'quickie' course in being smooth and charming.

Hilarious, Melody! LOL It was meant as compliment. You just never know how it will come out from the young ones these days! :))

And, btw, now I can definitely see the resemblance between you and Janeen. It only takes me a few months longer than everyone else! ;)

I agree - definitely a compliment!

Thank you for your comment on Jack and Jill,
Melody. Being a screenwriter, it's a challenge to come up with an entertaining mini-script every week. If I've been able to put a smile on the reader's face, that's all that matters! :))

Buona notte!

[smiles/laughter] Very funny. My mother once commented on my make-up once suggesting that I looked like on because of the way I had applied it. Lucky for you, he thought you were "hot," my mom didn't. Good post! Cathy

That is so cute! 17 year olds usually have no decorum but he was trying to pay you a compliment. You always look so nice Melody. I just look like an old lady trying to look 30 again. [giggle] Consider yourself complimented. :o)
